Saturday – Officially Day 1 of BAK
Day 2 for us because we did the Colorado border to Syracuse yesterday.
Today is 55 miles from Syracuse to Garden City.
BTW Kansas is not flat and the roads are not paved in yellow brick!

We drove to the Colorado/Kansas border, took a photo, and then cycled the 16.2 miles to our hotel in Syracuse (First day cheat – hotel, the rest of the trip we’ll be camping)

Another training ride
BAK is 12 days away. So I’m out battling the 18 mph SSE wind in preparation for the yellow brick road.
Goose Island State Park – about 13 miles out.
Sat awhile and watched this chap fishing.
Stopped at the Duck Blind at Fulton Harbor on the way home.
It’s only another 2 or 3 miles to home.

30 miles battling the wind – just what’s needed before tackling Kansas!
April BridgeWalk
The Easter weekend kind of upset my schedule and I forgot about the Bridge until finally realizing last weekend that it was Saturday or not at all if there was to be an April walk!
Nine of us stalwarts assembled at 8:30am and set off to keep the spirit of BridgeWalk alive.
We were not the only folks on the bridge this morning. This group, flying the Australian flag, we’re heading North as we made our way back South.
Cyclists were out for a ride too. They headed off up the Joe Fulton Corridor.
The Start of Serious Training
The 15mph SSW wind enabled us to easily reach 38mph down hill heading North on the causeway.
Of course returning Southward it was difficult to even reach 10mph!
