Conquer(ed) the Coast 2023
Took a while but I managed the 66 miles for the fifth year. May just enter for the 20 miler next time depending on how my training program goes in 2024!
Took a while but I managed the 66 miles for the fifth year. May just enter for the 20 miler next time depending on how my training program goes in 2024!
Five and a half hours and 66.5 miles later I completed my 4th Conquer the Coast event.
Training for the 5th event starts now!
“There’s no fool like an old fool”
An old English proverb generally meaning:
“People of mature years, who are expected to know better, often do outrageously foolish things, especially regarding romantic liaisons.”
John Heywood’s 1546 glossary of proverbs in the English tongue.
In my case, I hasten to add, it is relevant related to the “romantic notion” that I can continue to cycle as if I am still 24 years old!
Notwithstanding the rather obvious fact that I am NOT 24 years old I have nevertheless gone ahead and registered for the 2022 Conquer the Coast 66-mile bike ride.
This is the 5th time I’ve registered for this particular event:
Every time it gets cold (below 70F) I get a low tire pressure warning on the Explorer. Usually it happens when it’s chucking it down too and every time I get out and get soaked to find it’s only a couple of psi down.
Low humidity and reasonably cool (for Texas) temperature made for great cycling weather.
DMD staff tour of the Port.
Toured the Port this morning. Weather cancelled any chance of being on the water but got to see the new Headquarters and a drive up the Joe Fulton Corridor.
