Nashville – 3rd time lucky?
Over my years in the USA I have been near to Nashville three times.
In 2004 I attended a family wedding in Franklin; we road tripped there with our young kids and other family members and the opportunity to go the extra 25 miles to Nashville eluded me.
In 2018 our summer road trip ended in Franklin TN and we had so much fun there that once again setting foot in Nashville proper eluded me. (I don’t count driving to the airport as visiting the City)
So Patty and I decided to fly in to Nashville for the weekend to celebrate my birthday on the 13th and our anniversary on the 19th.
I finally managed to visit Nashville AND fit in walking a bridge with Patty.
The weather on Friday was wet and Scottish but we had fun anyway. Walked the John Seigenthaler pedestrian bridge, visited the Johnny Cash museum and went out for our anniversary dinner which was very enjoyable at the time.
As I sit at Gate A3 waiting on the flight to Houston some friendly voice over the public address system is welcoming me to Nashville and hoping that I enjoy some of their unique music and food.
Sadly the food thing didn’t work for me; a poor choice on my part ruined 4 of my 5 days here – you don’t want to know more details.
However Patty had some good cousin visiting time and we have an excuse to come back again – yay!
I did manage to visit with Pippin but just couldn’t manage to fit him in my suitcase.
November off to a good start
In defiance of the forecast the weather on Sunday November 4th was very conducive to bridge walking and 616 other folks thought so too.
Meanwhile, on a ranch further North in Texas, Andrew was proving his prowess with a .308 and bagged his first deer. Food for the family and a very respectable trophy for his trouble.
The Tide is High
The weather looked ok this morning so I set off on my Saturday ride forgetting about the SeaFair parade.
Three miles into my ride I had to take refuge at the swimming pool not so much to stay dry but more to avoid the pain of rain in the face.
Then at 10 miles I had to ride around the parade which was not a problem as I was trying to clock up miles anyway.
I was expecting Water Street to be waterlogged but it did surprise me to find the water on Austin Street and even Magnolia.
Anyway I’ve logged another 21 miles at 86F so I’m happy!
October BridgeWalk video
Here’s a short video from the rather well attended October BridgeWalk where 505 folks crossed the bridge and a further 80 walked the alternate route along Shoreline.
